Kingston 5 v Wimbledon 3, Surrey League division 5 match played at the Richard Mayo Centre, United Reformed Church, Kingston on 28 September 2026

This was a great start to the season for Ed Mospan’s Kingston 5 team. Despite being heavily outrated by Wimbledon 3, they achieved a 3-3 draw, with commendable wins against higher-rated opponents by Moamen Hammad with White on board 2 and Parisa Patel with Black on board 3.

A rapid win by Ethan Fox on board 6 accounted for the third point, and also gave Ethan time to take the photograph above of his brother Eoin (White) losing a hard-fought game against Wimbledon’s Ben Widdicombe.

Well done to Ed, who captains Kingston 4 and 5 in the Surrey League, and all his players on a very promising beginning to the 2026/27 campaign.
