Principles
Kingston Chess Club wishes to promote the club and the game of chess. It seeks to communicate with the public via its website and social media posts regarding club games, matches and activities and in doing so to identify some of the players and others involved. Our policy is to facilitate this process by making it a presumption of membership that photographs may be taken and published provided they relate to the stated purpose.
Adults and children over 15
Adult members and children over 15 are presumed to have consented to have their photographs being used on the Club’s website and social media and for marketing materials for the stated purposes only. A member may request that media is not published which features them or captions them by name. A group scene in which an individual is not the main focus does not count as identifying media for this purpose provided that their name is not captioned.
Children under 16
Specific consent must be obtained from the parent/carer to take photographs of children aged under 16. A group scene in which a child is not the main focus does not count as identifying media for this purpose provided that their name is not captioned.
Withdrawal of consent to publish
An adult or parent/carer may withdraw consent to publish provided it is within one month of the publication of the images or from discovery of their publication.
Authorised photographers
The club will authorise a limited number of individuals to take photographs in compliance with these rules. Other people wishing to take photographs, including from visiting teams, will need the permission of the senior official present in order to take photographs. An unauthorised person seen taking photographs may be requested to delete any photographs taken. Failure to do so may result in exclusion from the club.
Copyright
The copyright of the photograph and other media remains with the original creator. Original photos will not be sold or supplied to any third party without the consent of the photographer / videographer and the subject.
Respect
Any material published will show respect to the individuals concerned.
Data Protection
No personal information beyond the player’s name and the game and event details will be published.
