GM Ameet Ghasi smashes Kingston

The simultaneous display last night featuring Grandmaster Ameet Ghasi comprised two sessions of 12 boards. The time control was 25/10 for each player. Ameet, a former British blitz champion, generously accepted the same time control which meant he had to play 12 times faster than the participants!

A number of players played in both sessions including Jon Eckert, Peter Roche, Sam Wilcox and Jasper Tambini. Ameet won 23-1 (12-0 in the first session) with John Foley being the only player to beat Ameet. Jasper Tambini also performed well stretching Ameet in both his games and held the advantage in the first game before losing on time. The event, ably organised by Julian Way, was enjoyed by all present including several juniors who had a chance to play a grandmaster.

This was the last event of our summer programme organised by Stephen Moss, Ed Mospan and Julian Way. A special thanks to Greg Heath for his help and support and thanks again to Ameet for a wonderful evening. Ameet will be a formidable member of the Kingston 4NCL team this season.
